Rustic, Cozy, Olde Adobe in Taos
Enjoyed and appreciated the outdoor setting as much as the cozy interior. It is located outside the downtown area, so it is quiet and peaceful, but just a short drive to town. Melissa has put some wonderful, interesting pieces in this home which add to the ambience of being in an olde adobe. We found it well equipped with everything we needed and would definitely recommend it to those who enjoy a more comfortable, rustic atmosphere. ~Anonymous
Wonderfully Comfortable and Spacious Home
We spent two nights in this lovely adobe right outside of Taos - 5 mintue drive to the square. The house was cool from the thick adobe walls and very spacious. We cooked dinner on the grill on the outside patio and enjoyed a beautiful starry night. The house was clean, kitchen well stocked with pots, pans, dishes and appliances. The house does not have a dishwasher which was not a concern for us - but just noting if it matters to others. We enjoyed the farmers' market on Sat. and a hike in the Taos Ski Area. It's a beautiful place to visit and we would definitely rent this home again. ~Heather H.
The house was perfect for us and our two children. The kids loved the board games and spacious yard. My husband enjoyed grilling and making fires in the many kivas. I felt that the kitchen was well appointed and was thankful for the the peaceful surroundings. We will definitely return and absolutely recommend the house to Taos bound friends. ~Lolobaum
Timeless New Mexico Comfort
We thoroughly enjoyed this charming adobe home for two relaxing days. The proprietor was very responsive, helpful and quite accommodating. The property is comfortable, spacious and projected the theme of New Mexico style throughout. It was simple and timeless in its adornment and layout, and felt like a home from the 1800s (with modern updates, of course). Soft-curved adobe walls, pine log beams supporting a wooden ceiling, brick floors, living areas full of daylight and a lovey mountain view from the large dining table in the kitchen/dining area. It is located in an easily accessible semi-rural Taos neighborhood not far from old town Taos, and has a pleasant private garden area in the front and a deck off the main bedroom out back. We were visitors in snowy conditions and absolutely loved the four kiva wood-burning fireplaces and the three gas flame faux wood stove heaters. ~Richard W.
Quiet, Real New Mexico Experience; PERFECT Host!
We stayed at this house recently with our 3 kids and it was AMAZING! We loved the outdoor space, the kitchen was very well appointed, beds were very comfortable and cozy, overall a very good experience. Melissa was a great host as well, quick with recommendations whenever we asked. Thanks for a wonderful stay! ~ Jill Marlowe
A Taste of Taos
We're from Wisconsin, so this was our first visit to Taos other than once driving through the city. We stayed for two nights in Melissa's beautiful adobe rental and just loved it. It's tastefully decorated with antiques and artwork, the beds were comfortable, and the kitchen was nicely appointed. There was a brief glitch when we got there as there was no water. However, after a quick call to Melissa, the personable handyman came over and had everything running in about 20 minutes. Those of us who were up early were treated to sunrise over the mountains from the kitchen window. The beautiful mountain painting in the dining area (I took lots of photos!) was painted by a previous owner making us feel as though we were staying at a friend's house. It was a bit chilly the first night but the gas log fireplaces kept us cozy and warm. It was a real treat to wake up to a home-cooked breakfast (our son and grandson) and just hang out for a couple of hours in the enclosed courtyard basking in the sun before we took off for the day. I've never stayed in an adobe house before and I have to say that everything about a 250 year old house like this is irregular which is part of its charm. I definitely recommend this house to anyone who is looking for a rental that isn't ordinary. We'd definitely go back! ~ Wisconsin Lady
Perfect Getaway - Quiet but Close!
What a gem! This house was perfect for my husband and myself when we made a quick trip to Taos to meet some friends. I have stayed in many Taos rentals over the years, but this home stands out. I want to come back as soon as our schedule allows! The yard is great if your pets are welcome, and the outdoor fireplace is good for socializing. The interior is lovely - the history of the home is blended beautifully with necessities for modern living (or vacationing!) In case you needed it to get better, it is close to downtown but being in Ranchos de Taos is still rural! All in all, a great rental, one of the few I've stayed in that I WANT to return for another vacation.
Thanks again, Melissa, for providing such a great rental ~ Claire
Old New Mexico - historical and enchanting!!
My husband had "Spend some time in a New Mexican Adobe in Taos" on his bucket list so when I started to look around, Melissa's lovely home stood out. We booked this home for two weeks in the fall and we were not disappointed in this old beauty. If you are looking for "perfect," keep on looking, but if you are looking for "charming, interesting, historical and comfortable," book this house!! Melissa is a busy lady but so knowledgeable about the area when she shares her stories. Her love for creating "homes away from home" is apparent. Melissa is a gem and so is this house. Enjoy! ~Nancy D.
The House is So UNIQUE, LOVE
The hostess is such a wonderful young woman, she corresponded with every need or want in just a few minutes. The house was so wonderfully unique and unusual we were thrilled to find such a treasure. The house is within walking distance of the downtown plaza, which has many shops, restaurants and live music to be entertained at night. This is such a wonderful location. While I was on my ski vacation, I broke a foot, and we found the house easily fits a wheel chair, which was a big plus. Great choice to stay, if you want to be close to the wonderful things the Taos Plaza offers. Great place for Uniqueness, fun, and a great place to enjoy. ~Maleia D.
Location - Location - Location!
We absolutely love staying in Melissa's vacation home rentals. This was our second property and we love the clean and welcoming accommodations. Everything you would need to cook a meal and stay in or just walk steps to the many restaurant offerings of Taos. Walk to the square, galleries and even the grocery store. The lovely "Secret Garden" is a bonus to sit with coffee, tea or a glass of wine. The Internet WiFi was fast and efficient and the Cable TV worked great for a rainy day. Best of all, many of her rentals are pet friendly and our black lab, Gladys, loved staying with us and walking around pet-friendly Taos. Gladys says - 4 Paws-UP! ~Toni M.
Fun and Convenient Place to Stay. A Good Hotel Alternative.
Fun, eclectic décor and very clean. Melissa answered my last minute request immediately and was able to accommodate our late evening arrival. She even said that if the VRBO site wouldn't accept my credit card since it was a last minute request, I could just leave cash or a check in the room when we leave. I love that trust. The site did accept my payment, though. Very convenient location within walking distance to many restaurants and the downtown square. We would stay again in a heartbeat. Economical, too, when compared to a hotel. This place had much more charm and personality than the sterile décor of a hotel room. ~Paul M.
TravelingSpirit Summer Getaway in Taos
I love staying at Melissa's places in Taos! They are all unique, one of a kind personal spots that include artwork and capture a quirky, yet comfortable style. I will definitely return! ~TravelingSpirit
Perfect Taos Getaway
My partner and I stay at the Red Cat House for a long weekend every year, because we love it so much. The beautifully decorated apartment has plenty of room for us and our dog to relax, and you can't beat the two-minute walk to the Plaza. The owner is also very friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking to visit Taos. ~Lauren
Great Location- Very Charming
Right in the center of town and yet very quiet- really charming place with lots of fun and funky detailing- owner really cares about your experience. Kitchen works well for breakfast and take outs, not really set up for every day cooking - but with all nice and reasonable eating places nearby it's not really a problem. Hope the Red Cat House will be available next time we come to Taos. ~Marianne E.
Great Apartment With All the Amenities of Home and in an Excellent Location.
A beautiful apartment in a great location. Within walking distance to Taos Plaza, great restaurants and shopping. Very quiet and relaxing. This was our third stay here and we are planning on coming back in the spring. Melissa is awesome.....besides the apartment being fantastic, we come back to see her too. She is very welcoming and is very informative on events going on around Taos and always has recommendations for places to eat and the live music scene. We highly recommend a stay here. ~Anonymous
My husband and I did a honeymoon New Mexico trip and the Red Cat House was our first stop in Taos! It's so charming, clean as a whistle, the bed is super comfy, and bathroom and kitchen totally clean and efficient and we simply couldn't have enjoyed it more. Melissa was super in helping us coordinate the game-plan of our New Mexico itinerary before we even left, and her Taos recommendations are excellent as well. So much to enjoy here. ~Vara A.
Red Cat House Apartment
Very charming apartment just across the street from the plaza. Pure Taos style decor and setting. We were surprised by the generous size and comfortable layout of the space. The rooms (kitchen, living, bath, bedroom) are separate, so no activity bothers another. Red Cat was the perfect private and peaceful getaway. Well equipped, good amenities. Within easy walking distance to the best restaurants, bars, and shops. Red Cat property is very old with some interesting history. Melissa is just the nicest person and very accommodating. However, this is an apartment, not a hotel with staff at ones beck and call. No valet, concierge, room service. We loved it here, but those requiring high maintenance may not. Definitely a "plan to return" trip experience. Oh I have to admit I was jammin' on the record player and some Cat Stevens and Allman Brothers albums that were there. ~Alan
It's the Cat's Meow!
This was our 2nd time staying at this downtown casita and I'd never stay anywhere else. It's clean, cute and so easily located. The bed is extremely comfortable and the natural light from the skylight in the kitchen area makes this a very cheery place. If you're looking for convenience and a fun, funky place to lay your head, look no more. If you get a chance to speak with Melissa, the owner, you'll find her warm and engaging and very knowledgeable about Taos and the area. We got some excellent ideas from her on things to do as well as places to eat. Also, the garden in the front is great to have your morning coffee in, or a glass of wine in the evening. It's steps away from the Plaza and walking distance to several excellent breakfast and dinner restaurants.
I highly recommend this charming place. ~Eileen R.
Fantastic Place to Stay, Close to the Plaza and Shopping
Such a great experience. Everything was as described and the directions and access to the cottage were clear and well laid out.The little cottage/apartment is perfect for a few days in Taos, a small kitchen (plates, cups, coffee machine, blender, toaster, stove, oven, etc), dining room table, sofa and bedroom. The whole place was designed well (and with cool funky art), plenty of light, privacy and even a small courtyard (for summer) to hang out in. All in all a great place, to stay and Melissa was super approachable and gave us some good travel advice for the local area. ~Paul T.
Location! Location! Location!
Its been 26 years since my wife and I returned to Taos and staying at Casa Flora couldnt have been a nicer way to get reacquainted. Casa Flora is comfortable and a great location
just a block from the Plaza and walking distance to just about everything. The decor is very Taos and is filled with wonderful local artwork. We complicated our stay with second larger rental this trip anticipating more family coming to town and with Mellisa help, she made the transition to the second property a breeze. ~Steve and Mary
Cozy, Convenient and so Cute!
My husband and I spent four days in this eclectic, traditional adobe retreat and loved the atmosphere and location. We loved the colors, style and décor. The owner was very friendly and made us feel 'at home' and welcomed. We could easily walk to the plaza area and several great restaurants. One thing to note is that this apartment is located in an 1880 adobe structure and is one of several in the building. As such, the walls/ceilings are 'thin'. We could hear muffled conversations and a hair dryer next door and people walking on the wood floors in other units. This did not bother us and other guests seemed as respectful of this fact, as we were. I think it added to the history and charm of the apartment and we will definitely stay again when we head to Taos next time. ~Kathy and Steve M.
Our Home Away From Home!
This is our second stay at one of Melissa's properties. We were here last October and loved it so much we came back the week of 4th of July. And....have already booked our stay for September. We absolutely love the location....walking distance to so many places. The décor is amazing. Love that Melissa puts her personal touch on everything. She is truly amazing! ~Bonnie
I have found my vacation paradise! We spent a week in Taos at the Casa Flora apartment located close to Taos plaza. It had all the amenities of a big hotel chain wrapped up in a quaint and quiet vacation rental. Melissa, the owner, was very attentive to every need and question I had about Taos and the area. From the scenic landscape to the turquoise blue sky, this is a must for a couples get away or a family vacation destination. ~Shannon J.
Best Rental House in Taos by Far!
I have been going to Taos for five years now and usually go about four or five times a year. I have stayed pretty much everywhere and nothing is as comfortable and convenient as this apartment. The location was perfect, its next to some of the best bars and restaurants in town, and theres no need to drive anywhere. The apartment is well furnished and fully equipped with anything you possibly need or want for that matter. The property is well taken care of room was extremely clean. I picked the place apart and could not find any negatives. ~Marcel H.
This Taos Home Exceeded Expecations!
We were so pleased and pleasantly surprised at how lovely this home was! It was close enough to the town square to walk to dinner and the play ground, yet far enough away so as to not be disturbed by the noise. The home itself was just beautiful and so comfortable! The beds were comfortable and there were more than enough towels for the 5 of us (including 2 young children!) The kitchen was wonderfully appointed with up to date appliances and every amenity you could name. The patio area included very comfortable lawn furniture and a grill......one of my favorite nights there was the last when we ordered pizza and spend time together at the table outside...singing and laughing!
If we were to possibly ask for MORE, it would be that the WIFI were working and that there were a fan in the Master Bedroom, as it tended to get rather warm at night with no air moving and no screen on the sliding glass patio door. We did notice boxed ceiling fans in the laundry room so perhaps they had not been installed during our time there.
The view from the living room and dining room could not be beat! The lovely snow capped mountains and the sunrise were welcomed sights! Do yourself and your family a huge favor and rent this home for your next visit to Taos! I promise you will not be sorry and that you will feel as at home and welcomed as we did!
Casa Grande in Taos
Three generations stayed at Casa Grande and considered ourselves grand! It is a lovely Casa and we all fit comfortably. The decorations were generous and gave us lots to talk about, especially since one is an artist.
As the cook, I thought the kitchen was unbelievable for a rental! Very well equipped.
And it is really only a 5 minute walk to the Plaza, where the first sign the kids saw was Twirl.
I give this rental 5+ stars.
Casa Grande: Over-the-Top Charming and Comfortable
Casa Grande is fabulous. Location is ideal and only four blocks or so from the Plaza. It is spacious and a great place to come home to after a long day. Has the charm of old Taos, but all new tile floors, windows, fresh paint, comfortable beds. Melissa is a creative decorator and generously shares her antiques and art with her guests. The small touches are many. Your eyes come to rest on new little surprises all the time and include details that you would see in a home and generally not in a rental. Even the bedroom closets are done with a touch of whimsy. Kitchen is large and has everything you could possibly need. We chose to make only breakfast and eat out the rest of the day, but you could easily cook anything in this kitchen. The walled-in courtyard is freshly landscaped with a new grill and comfortable chairs and table under a shade tree. Melissa repurposes a lot of lonely junk into garden planters, wall art, etc.
Agree with another reviewer that the master bedroom does get warm, but there was a screen door on the patio door. I like to keep luggage off the floor so those little, folding luggage racks would be a great addition.
Why would you ever stay in a hotel? Would definitely rent from Melissa on my next trip to Taos. If you get a chance to actually visit with Melissa, that's a bonus. She's great.
We Loved Casa Madre!
We were in Taos for a family ski trip & we loved staying at Casa Madre! The house was plenty big, the décor is eclectic and fun, the beds were comfortable, the kitchen was well stocked, washer & dryer were handy for wet ski clothes, the gas stoves were easy to work and kept the entire house warm. The WIFI was great, and most of all it was CLEAN & welcoming! We will definitely try to go back in the summer to enjoy the darling patios. This house is truly a New Mexican treasure! ~Courtenay H.
Fabulous Taos Rental!
What a great Taos experience. Home was loaded with whimsical, fun décor items as well as being spacious and well stocked. The flowers were blooming everywhere and the outdoor spaces were so comfortable it was hard to check out the rest of Taos when we had our own private paradise! Within walking distance to the Plaza and shopping. Owner Melissa really knows how to put together a great Taos home. We are already planning a trip back next year! ~Merrilee, Karen & Nancy
I had a lovely stay at Casa Madre. The decor is enchanting Taos style, the bedrooms comfortable, the kitchen well-equipped, the balance of indoor and outdoor areas well-thought out, and the blend of private spaces and gathering areas perfect. Additionally, the garden areas are superb. Since I'm an avid gardener and spend every minute outdoors when possible, I had coffee on the covered back porch each morning surrounded by lush plants and whimsical art. Sometimes I was so relaxed I felt like stretching out on the picnic table for a nap. I didn't, though, as there is so much to do in the Taos area ... I would stay at Casa Madre again and I highly recommend Casa Madre to anyone traveling to Taos. The house simply bursts with beauty and encompasses the Taos spirit. ~Bibliobiker
Everything We Imagined and More
I cannot begin to describe the charm of this house. Enchanting is the closest I can come. Our time with friends was spent on the lovely outside porches, both front and back, surrounded by whimsical antiques and flowers. The kitchen was very well appointed. The bedrooms all had private entrances onto the porches which made sleeping with the doors open delightful. ~Mary R.
There couldn't have been a place that better suited our family than Casa Madre. To begin, Taos is just a wonderful town to visit with good food, art, and surroundings that allow for hiking and other outdoor activities. And Casa Madre is right on the outskirts of the town (5-10 minute walk) and provides a wonderful place to wake up in and have a slow breakfast on one of the two amazing porches before heading out, and a well stocked kitchen and space after a day of exploration. It is clean and very well maintained. Melissa the owner, couldn't have been more accommodating and her taste for decor surpasses all. There is a magical and whimsical quality to the entire house. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. ~Stacey P.
Back Home in Taos
We lived in Taos for 6 years and returned for a much-anticipated vacation. Casa Madre was perfect for our multi-generational family of 7. We loved it! If you want a REAL Taos stay, you'll find it here. Enjoy Taos' vernacular architecture a comfortable old home with several idiosyncratic additions, natural materials of wood, stone, metal and tile; and a delightful array of folk art and funky decor. Casa Madre reflects Taos' unique culture very well. The front deck and back patio are great places to gather, socialize, and enjoy Taos light and air. And the gardens are lovely. We appreciated the very quiet street and 15-minute walk to the Plaza. ~Heidi R.
Wonderful Stay in Taos
We were 5 couples travelling by motorcycle. Four couples stayed in the main house, and one more in the Casita. After a couple of days riding to get to Taos, the comfortable beds, inviting decor, and large gathering spaces indoors and out were greatly appreciated by all. The half mile walk to the plaza was nice, and we appreciated the flashlights left for us for walking back at night. The kitchen had everything we needed, including coffee, and everyone in the group thought the home could not have been nicer. The large fluffy towels were also appreciated, especially after the thin scratchy ones we had at our hotel earlier. We had a wonderful stay, and will look forward to coming back again. ~David S.
Best Rental House Ever!!!
This house was hands down the coolest place we've ever stayed! The pictures don't even begin to do it justice. It's got so much personality, it just makes you want to hang out there. Bunk house was awesome, the little fireplaces were amazing. All the doors to the outside added to the feel of it. The crazy little decorations everywhere making us laugh just made it more fun! Apart from how fun the house was, it really accommodated us well. This is the perfect place for big groups like ours! Lots of living space and with esentally 4 bedrooms and a pullout, we had lots of room and didn't ever feel cramped. So close to town, among a cute little group of houses, even had a cute little front and back porch and fenced in parking area. It was a perfect central location as we skied Taos and Angelfire! As an experienced VRBO'er, we would highly, highly recommend this place!!! We hope to be back! ~LBK Party
Wonderful Little Casita!
We loved, loved, loved Casita Juliet! Just the right size for two people. Beautiful shaded yard with two covered porches, lots of flowers and quiet, fresh air to relax after visiting the many Taos galleries and wonderful restaurants. We enjoy the New Mexican decorative colors and wonderful local art throughout the Casita. The bed is comfortable, linens provided, and the kitchen well equipped. I cooked breakfast , lunch and many dinners in the Casita, mainly because we eat out while traveling from Indiana, but the local restaurants have great cuisine - our favorites were Bella's Mexican Grill, Doc Martin's and Stella's Italian - all within walking distance of Casita Juliet. The washer/dryer in this Casita is a plus for a traveler by car and I would not recommend bringing clothing that needs a hanger as there is not a peg or rod to be found! But who needs more then shorts, jeans and good walking shoes in Taos, a truly enchanted Mountain Town. Melissa is great! I would be so privileged to return to any of Melissa's properties and highly recommend the Casita Juliet or the Red Cat where we stayed in 2014. ~Carolyn
Lovely and Cozy Cottage for One or Two
My husband and I rented the casita for a quick trip to Taos. It was a lovely place, inside and out! Every detail inside was well thought out with a very fun and beautiful style. It is a very small but perfect gem. The outside was great too, with two covered patios, plenty of room to park and a grill with all the needed accessories. The location was good, it was easy to get to everything through the back streets avoiding traffic and it was a short walk to the Plaza. We would stay there again. There is also a separate, larger house available on the property and we are hoping to bring the whole family and rent both. ~John V.
Off the Charts Adorable
We had a large family gathering and added Casita Juliet on to the house in front (Casa Madre) and it couldn't have been more perfect. Only problem was figuring out who got to stay in this sweet little cottage! Comfy, self contained and with its own little patio, this is a winner of a spot. I want to come stay here again. Melissa is the consummate host: there to help when you need it but not intrusive. ~Laura B.
Perfect for a Romantic Getaway!
We were immediately charmed by this well-appointed casita in the heart of Taos. Located on a quiet residential street, just a few blocks from the town square, the two of us really enjoyed spending time at Casita Juliet. Not only was it extremely cute, clean and comfortable, the owner took pains to make us feel at home with bathrobes, a vintage record player with Patsy Cline and other classics, and DVD's. We wanted for nothing, and found the owner to be very hospitable and generous. Thank you for a wonderful stay. ~Doug A.
A Place to Remember
Sometimes we stay somewhere and we know we want to return. This is one of those places. We enjoyed the entire casita, cooking, listening to records and watching a dvd in the beautiful living room. Even the shower was great. We sat on the porch and watched a beautiful sunset in Taos. The owner is very friendly and she even cooperated in mailing my favorite moccasins that I left behind. I highly recommend Casita Juliet...it is so welcoming and full of beautiful art. ~utahdrvilla
My husband and I enjoyed this home so much we didn't want to leave, and would have loved calling it home! Melissa was the most gracious host, offering everything we need in her cute and creatively remodeled home. The vibrance and eclectic style poured out of every corner of the home, making it all the more fun to stay! ~Kayla J.
This little casita is amazing. It has everything you need and feels like home. Completely relaxing and rejuvenating. Love, love, love it. ~Joanie
Beautiful Place and Very Relaxing!
This place is like a compound and it's great! Very eclectic and homey. We were a mixed group of ten people for a long weekend and it was perfect. Everybody had a bed and they are comfy and warm. The kitchen was well stocked and there was lots of firewood for the fireplaces. The treehouse is adorable and the whole place is super quiet and relaxing. Would definitely return. ~Becky A.
I shared this home with a co-worker of mine when we spent a week working in Taos this summer, we found the beds to be super comfy, the books in abundance, and the flowers were so impressive. Loved exploring the property in the evenings and hearing the fruit fall from the trees as we relaxed on the front porch. The gas kitchen stove was a pleasure to use as I love to cook and we entertained some local friends for dinner one evening.
I would certainly stay here again.
Thanks! ~Megan S.
Best VRBO Family Vacation Yet!
Each summer, our family gathers somewhere in CO or NM for part of our vacation. In July, 8 of us + our dog met at this magical property of Melissa's. We couldn't have done better! There was enough room to really spread out. Both of our adult daughters agree this was the best property we've been to & we all hope to visit again next summer if not before. No way to expand on all the previous reviews, they are all glowing & true! We were not disappointed! The patio and yard space was our favorite gathering place after a day of exploring areas in and around Taos. Melissa has "mood lighting" strung all around the patio & property. We had a fire one evening to make S'Mores. All the flowers were lovely! Since it was vacation, we really enjoyed exploring all kinds of restaurants in town (or bringing meals in). Thanks Melissa for sharing a true Taos living experience, if only for a short time! Hope to visit again. ~Bev K.
My husband and in-laws stayed at Melissa's home for a week in July. We were greeted by a double rainbow, the smell of piñon, and beautiful gardens. The peacefulness of the property was incredible. My mother in-law and I enjoyed coffee in the hot tub each morning while the men tended the Kiva on the patio each night. We were so close to everything! Horseback riding, the ski village, Taos Pueblo, great restaurants! Melissa is a wonderful artist, gardener, host. The kitchen was well furnished, the beds were quite comfortable (my husband is 6'2") and nothing can beat the sound of coyotes at night. Everywhere you look there are wonderful objects filling this lovely home. Some natural, some made by local artists, some created by Melissa - but all chosen to reflect the truly unique place that is Taos. ~Sharon B.
My husband and 2 teens and I stayed at Melissa's home for 5 days in July. The gardens and flowers were so beautiful and even though it is very close to center of Taos, the setting is very quiet and peaceful which is what we seek in a home rental. My husband and daughter enjoyed the hot tub. We loved the patio and fireplace and ate outside as often as we could to enjoy its ambience. The kitchen was very well stocked with staples and coffee. Plenty of dishes, glasses, pots and pans. We enjoyed all of Melissa's old items tacked to the walls and outside. As a runner, I enjoyed running up Upper Ranchitos to Millicent Rogers road and beyond. I also did some trail running on the Devisadero Loop SW of town. The location is very easy for getting into town and beyond. We went out to Ojo Caliente and Abiquu one day. Exciting to hear the coyotes run through the property a couple of nights! Especially for our dog! Great place to bring a well behaved dog as there is lots of lawn and area to explore. Just be aware that the fences aren't dog proof so keep an eye on your dog. ~LilaS
This Property is a True Expression of Taos!
My husband and I were so impressed with Melissa's property in Taos. The home was so warm and welcoming and made us smile with all the pieces of art and whimsy that are Taos. We loved sitting in the garden and enjoyed the hot tub in a secluded, beautiful yard. We would definitely stay at this home again and even bring friends the next time to really enjoy all this property has to offer. Thank you for sharing your amazing home Melissa! ~bd1967
Last minute get-away and our first time to Taos. What a great little town and Casa Azul was perfect! Great location, clean, easy-very comfortable and cozy. Melissa has wonderful taste in decorating and the outdoor landscaping/seating was a beautiful oasis. We would absolutely return and highly recommend Casa Azul. THANK YOU for taking the last minute reservation and being so gracious-we had a great time!
We Loved Our Stay While in Taos
We took a little quick extended weekend trip to Taos with our 8 year old Bulldog. It was a very comfortable stay and everything we needed was there. The bathroom amenities were like having our own spa with bath robes included. Our dog loved the yard as it was fully enclosed by adobe walls. It was difficult to leave and Bubbles our bulldog was protesting on the back porch when it was time to go. I would have given 5 Stars - We had indications that there was air conditioning. Bubbles doesn't like it when it gets over 70 degrees. The place we were in was not air conditioned that I could tell. However, there are quality windows and a cross flow of air that we got at night kept everything cool during the day. Ceiling fans would have been perfect. I recommend Casa Azul and hopefully we will be back in the future.
Perfect Taos Getaway for a Couple (with or without animals)
My wife, two dogs, and I stayed at Casa Azul over Memorial Day Weekend and could not have been more thrilled with our accommodations. The home itself was the perfect blend of stylish, comfortable, and practical. The well-equipped kitchen and private patio (which also makes for a good situation for pets) were major bonuses but the whole house was pretty incredible. The location of the home was also top-notch, situated only a few blocks from all the galleries and restaurants in/surrounding the plaza but just far enough away for it to be very quiet and dark at night. Since it's such an easy walk, you also don't have to worry about competing for parking with others and can indulge in that extra cocktail after dinner knowing you can simply walk home in minutes. We really enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend the home to other couples interested in a Taos getaway! ~JEFF L.
A Great Getaway in a Quiet Spot Convenient to All Taos Offers
Just came back from this lovely little casita where we spent three very comfortable nights. Everything we needed to enjoy a pleasant short stay. It was very clean and well equipped. A short walk made it convenient to everything in town. If we didn't own a little vrbo casita ourselves I am sure we would return to this fun little place. Thanks for your hospitality Melissa.......good luck with the renovations! ~Anonymous
A Home Away From Home
We happily made Case Verde our home away from home for 2 weeks while visiting with family in Taos. The quiet location in easy walking distance of the Plaza and close to stores could not be more perfect and the comforts of the cottage are beyond reproach. Melissa is a wonderful hostess who gives you all the help and/or space you wish. We would without any hesitation return to Melissa on our next visit to Taos and look forward to doing so. ~Pam S.
Better Than Advertised!
We had a great time at this lovely casita. It was more spacious than I expected, very comfortable & truly has everything you need. The art, both traditional & whimsical, makes it feel like home. The loveseat is really comfy & the reading light is great. There was plenty of wood for the kiva. It was too cold to enjoy the outside space but I would love to come back in the summer to take advantage of the patio & plantings. Excellent location, easy walk to plaza.
What a wonderful stay I had at Casa Verde! So relaxing, perfect for me and my doggies. I loved it.
Thank you so much for a very delightful, restful and relaxing vacation!
This Place Has Everything!
Location, charm, whimsy and pet friendly! What more could anyone ask for. Located just a short walk to the plaza with numerous shops and restaurants to choose from. Charming enclosed courtyard with a wonderful patio to enjoy your morning coffee , listen to the church bells and birds singing. This also allowed my dog a safe place to wander around. Whimsy, everywhere you looked both inside and out were fun and interesting pieces of decor to appreciate. Melissa thought of everything to make her guest feel at home!
My only regret was I had to leave so soon. I will definitely plan a return visit for a much longer stay. Thank you, Melissa
